What is it with nerds/geeks liking Muse?

For example, about a year ago I was scrolling through the music list on my friend’s laptop and it was basically nothing but anime soundtracks and video game background music…except for the entire Muse discography.

This isn’t limited just to him. I’ve seen other nerds (both in real life and on the internet) claim voracious allegiance to Muse.

Muse doesn’t come across as a particularly nerdy band, so I’m just curious what attracts the nerd sect to them?

Disclaimer: Before I get called out by rabid Muse fans, no I’m not saying only dorks like Muse. Nor am I saying anything about the quality of Muse’s music. I think they’re a fine band.
